Patriots, skwerlien attacks continue in Cuesta Park, Mountain View, California, in spite of efforts by local authorities to stop the carnage (click for map). The following incident occured February 22, 2007:

Squirrel Attacks Child At South Bay Park ... Again

A South Bay family told NBC11 that their 4-year-old daughter was attacked by a squirrel at Mountain View's Cuesta Park Thursday.

Dave and Debbie Allard said their daughter Hayley suffered scratches on her face.

NBC11's Garvin Thomas visited the family Friday and said Hayley had about ten small scratches across her forehead, upper right cheek and lower left chin.

Debbie Allard said a squirrel stole a bag of Sun Chips from her shoulder bag and began eating them under a play structure.

Allard said a ranger told her that she shouldn't have brought the shoulder bag or the chips into the park because the squirrels could be attracted not only to the food, but her sunscreen and baby wipes as well.

Allard said while the ranger was giving her information about the aggressive squirrels, her daughter made an unexpected grab for the bag of chips and that caused the squirrel to jump up and latch onto the child's face. Allard said the squirrel quickly went back to the chips.

Hayley has since seen her doctor and was given a tetanus shot.

Allard said there were signs posted and rangers were at the park telling visitors to be aware of the squirrels (click skwerl for comment).

Allard said she didn't think the postings were enough.

Dave Allard said the squirrels at Cuesta Park are no longer afraid of people. He said park officials should either remove the squirrels from the park or fence the park and not allow people inside... Source: NBC11.com

As for a solution, we doubt that exiling the skwerls will work, nor will segregating the slavering nutzys. Eventually they'll weasle their way back into or out of the park as the case may be. Perhaps a helpful Patriot will come up with a plan...
