scary squirrel world THE EARLIEST SKWERLHUGGER?

MAD MEDB'S MONSTER!

As most Patriots know, wherever there are skwerls, there are myths, legends, and folklore about the bushytail horde. Some of these tales are tall and troublesome (i.e. pat misrepentations describing chitterboxes as nice). Others are unflinching in their portrayal of the skwerlball menace as nut crunching devils.
Now, we've reported on these stories at length, so we won't recite them all here. However, none have led us to discover the terrible root of skwerlhuggery.
CLICK FOR LARGE VERSION         Oh sure, we've told you about the Tree of Delicious Nuts, Great (but not nice) Skwerl, and the Mystical Nice Squirrel. But, we've never been able to point to an event or moment in time when Skwerlhuggery - the traitorous worship of skwerls - reared it's bushytail. Until now...
One of the best known Irish myths is the Ulster Cycle, a collection of stories set in and around the kingdom of Ulster in northern Ireland. Of interest here is The Cattle Raid of Cooley in which Medb, queen of Connacht, invades Ulster in an attempt to steal the Brown Bull of Cooley, and is opposed only by the seventeen-year-old hero, Cuchulain:

Then Cuchulain made a threat in Methe that wherever he saw Medb he would cast a stone at her and that it would not go far from the side of her head. That he also fulfilled. In the place where he saw Medb west of the ford he cast a stone from his sling at her, so that it killed the pet bird that was on her shoulder.

Medb passed over the ford eastwards, and again he cast a stone from his sling at her east of the ford, so that it killed the tame squirrel that was on her shoulder. Hence the names of those places are still, Meide in Togmail ('Squirrel's Neck') and Meide ind Eoin ('Bird's Neck'). And Ath Srethe ('Ford of the Throw') is the name of the ford over which Cuchulain cast the stone from his sling.

Ok, now we're not here to say that Medb was the very first skwerlhugger. However, it's patently obvious that she had a special relationship with this nutkin (click pic to hear skwerl's hideous chitter). So, what we do have is the earliest evidence of skwerlien infiltration into the ranks of power - a notable and horrific development.
The remaining question is this: Was Medb associated with this arboreal nut devil just because she luv-luv-luved chitterboxes? Or was she under skwerlien mind control? Or was she in league with the bushytail horde's plan for squirrel world domination? We suspect the last seeing as how going to war over a cow is pretty skwerly; so, there must have been a covert reason for the invasion.
Unfortunately, we've been unable to confirm our suspicions. Of course, we queried the experts at alt.mythology, the Ulster Cycle website, and a number of other sources to no avail. So, we're asking for your opinion...
