Dear Scary Squirrel People,
I was disappointed that no one has yet reported the scary going's on of Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. I just spent my freshman year at Grinnell under constant supervision by the little critters. Honestly, I don't know why the squirrel is not out mascot -- the squirrel has become a deity at Grinnell, gracing the uniforms of Student Advisors (SA's), the covers of many official school publications, as well as tons of paraphanalia in the Bookstore.
The squirrels on campus are extremely large and not afraid of humans. Not a day went by last year without a giant red squirrel sitting atop a bike or sitting on a branch staring into people's rooms. My roommate was almost attacked; he claims he was surrounded by five or six at once.
Here are some links to Grinnell squirrel info:
An article appearing in Grinnell's online news magazine, "Langan", which highlights a genetics experiment involving squirrels and our new College President.
A cartoon I do for the school paper... now you'll understand the threat that these squirrels pose.
Grinnell College is located East of Des Moines on Route 80 in Iowa.
Thank you for your concern,
